OpenAI TTS troubleshooting

“OpenAI API key not configured”​

Open Profile & settings → OpenAI TTS, enter a key, and select Save settings.

Authentication or invalid-key error​

Create a new key in the OpenAI platform dashboard, replace the saved key, and revoke the old one.

Billing or quota error​

Check your OpenAI API billing status, available credits, usage limits, and organization or project selection.

Remember that a ChatGPT subscription does not cover API charges.

Generation timed out​

Check your network and OpenAI service status, then retry the chapter. For a long book, generate one chapter first to confirm the configuration.

Audio uses the previous voice or speed​

Settings affect new generations. Existing chapter audio is not replaced automatically.
